The Haunted Castle Revisited
version of Dracula is similar to the original Haunted Castle's, but
it's been altered in ways that change how you interact with it. The first
change is that Dracula is now completely grounded, and thus he's no longer
able to fly upward when in bat-swarm form and hover in the air and out of
range of most weapons. The second is that his attack has been changed to where
he releases five daggers, rather than two, and all of them momentarily remain
in place and lock in on you before suddenly darting toward whichever space
you were occupying when they finished orienting themselves. Like in the original
game, Dracula's entire body is vulnerable to attack.

Dracula's second form, though, is entirely
different from the original Haunted Castle's. In this game, he transforms
into four giant Dracula heads, each of which is able to prompt a separate
attack. The one on the far left is able to fire a red laser across the screen
(you can only crouch under it). The one in the center left summons a pair
of hands that hold their position for a moment and then dart forward, toward
each other, and attempt to squash you between their palms. The one in the
center left causes evenly spaced flame pillars to rise up from the ground
and then shift slightly to the right. And the one on the far left spews a
small swam of bats that fly straight across the screen (this is the second
form's only holdover attack). Your goal during this fight is to avoid all
of these attacks and strike Dracula's spirit essence--an enchanted, glowing
orb that spends all of its time floating through the air in a figure-eight
pattern. You're helped by the fact that one or multiple heads will sometimes
retract and become temporarily inactive when you score a hit on the orb.
