Konami has always managed to capture the gothic feel of the dark-middle ages with their great series. Each of the games is usually made up of multiple stages--sans Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and others like it, all of which utilize areas--with a boss guardian at their end.
