Marie

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate
Marie appears in a few cut-scenes, projecting her images and generally guiding Gabriel toward his destiny
We see Marie laying in her bed, distressed, in a cut-scene proceeding Gabriel Belmont's tutorial "Chapter."

Marie Belmont was the youngest daughter of a rich merchant family, and she was always attracted by the courageous nature of the Brotherhood of Light's lore. Described as "curious and lively," she often escaped from her duties at home to watch the warriors as they train at the monastery. It was there she met an orphan named Gabriel Belmont, who she would one day marry. The pair grew together, bound by their many promises. Ultimately, with the blessing of both her family and the Brotherhood, she married Gabriel. Though he was prone to dark moods, Marie's kind, loving nature always kept the storm clouds at bay, calming her beloved with sometimes only her laughter. Marie one day gave birth to a baby boy but never told Gabriel about the newborn's existence; fearing his sometimes-depressive emotional states, she managed to hide the child's existence from Gabriel, who was always out on some manner of assignment, working for the covenant.

In the year 1046, as Gabriel carry out a mission, the Brotherhood elders arrived at Marie's home with news of a terrible, unavoidable fate that awaited her husband--a future tragedy as projected by an amulet shown to her by Pan. The amulet, made from a fragment of mirror, had connection the Mirror of Fate, which had a way of foretelling and shaping people's destinies. Too, she was informed that her son, Trevor, must be taken into the Brotherhood's care in order to protect him from his soon-accursed father. Though she was shaken and distressed, Marie knew that the Brotherhood's plan was best for all parties involved.

One year later, Marie was killed by Gabriel, who was thought to be out on one of his usual Brotherhood-assigned excursions; Gabriel carried out the murder while under influence from the Devil Mask, and he was in following left with no memory of the event. Due to the unexplained chaos that was enveloping the world, wherein the forces of evil had used dark magic to separate mankind from Heaven, Marie's soul became one of many trapped on the plane directly between, able only to project her visage. When the oblivious Gabriel was sent out by the Brotherhood to investigate the cause of the separation, Marie helped guide him to the source, appearing to him in visions and as she always had soothing his pain.

She first alerted him to the existence of the Lords of Shadow and their cryptic prophecy then later acted a vessel through which Gabriel attained a piece of the God mask; when he almost succumbed to Laura's deadly lightning attack, she came to his embrace, the very act repelling Laura, who was envious of their affection and no longer wanted to "play" with him. Her last act was to return Gabriel from the brink after he was felled by Zobek, her very appearance dispelling the reaping spirits and granting Gabriel new life. After Gabriel defeated the ultimate evil, Satan, Marie explained to him why she never spoke of the true nature of her death--that she would do nothing to erode his resolve; she had faith that he would do the right thing. Though Gabriel insisted that he was unworthy of her love, she affirmed that he was as God intended--fallible but capable of great things. Thanks to the power of the God mask, using which Gabriel previously defeated the Dark Lord, she was able to return to the land of the living if only briefly, to share with him a final kiss and expressions of love.
