.
Lesser Demon
.

This devilish beast's foremost power is to clone itself at random until destroyed. To attack, the demon will reach back and generate power from its fist only to unleash a powerful energy blast forward. Each of the clones created are of equal strength and ability, too, so they must be finished off quickly. While you deal with the clones, it'll generate swarms of mud men to overwhelm you.

Leviathan
.

This mythological sea beast escapes from its coffin to join in the dark rebellion. Huge and powerful, this super gargoyle leaps high and hits even harder. Its powers are similar to Dracula's, most notably the ability to spew large fireballs in threes. When it jumps, you must run underneath it quickly before it lands on your head. The most advanced strategy is to force it to one side of the screen, wherein you'll limit its range and mobility. Since it's the third boss in a set of three--and a very tough one at that--you'll probably have little energy left to get the job done. Overall, this enemy is very similar to Dracula's Ghost in the Castlevania.

Living Armor
.

The Living Armor is just your typical giant knight with a sword. Its pattern is predictable, of course, but overconfidence can lead to a humiliating defeat. Its only real attack, which it'll use only if you get too close, is to raise its large sword into the air and swing it forward. While this attack may catch you off guard, it's not difficult to dodge if you use your back dash. Regardless, the Living Armor is continuously marching forward and becomes a threat if you allow it to back you into a corner. To avoid this, you simply connect with three consecutive whip attacks; the force of the combined blows will cause it to stumble backwards a few steps.

.
Man-Beast
.

The hulking Man-Beast is as agile as it is powerful, which is bad news for any hero hoping to score a quick kill. The Man-Beast likes rocks, which are the main ingredient in its two initial attacks: It can cling onto the ceiling, rip out a rocky fragment, and toss it in your direction; and it can viciously ram its fist into the ground, which in addition to potentially massive pain will cause three large rocks to spill out onto the battlefield. In its stalking thereafter, it can pick up any remaining debris and flip it toward you. Should it feel the need, it'll reveal its true Jekyll and Hyde nature, reverting back to its speedier human form, which has its own tricks: It can kick off walls and deliver a swift flying kick, and it can execute a Mike Haggar-like spinning punch--a long-lasting whirlwind attack that can be temporarily repelled with well-timed whip-strikes.

Maneater
.

The Maneater isn't really what it appears to be, for the dominant visual, the great skull, is only the the habitat for giant insect that buzzes about within the rather cramped shelter. As controlled by the insect, the floating menace uses its three erratically moving tentacles to limit the hero's freedom of movement, slowly cornering its prey and inflicting multiple hits; if the tentacles stop moving, it's a direct warning that each is about to release a stream of sonic-ring projectiles. The Maneater will attempt to thwart any effort to pass beneath it by crashing itself into the ground, causing to debris to spill out in either direction. It will otherwise toss out from any of its openings bouncing bone fragments, which whether alone or en masse will form yet another needless (and painful) obstacle.

Manticore
.

A Manticore is a man-eating creature with a lion's head, a man's face, the wings of a bat, and a quilled tail--or, in this case, a more dangerous scorpion tail. Despite having wings, the Manticore will keep this battle firmly on the ground. Its only two attacks are reactionary to where you are in the room: If you're in-close, the Manticore will protect itself by extending its tail overhead and stabbing it forward; not surprisingly, this will inflict a poison status upon the hero if it connects. If you're standing away from the beast, it will begin spitting large fireballs, up to three at a time, to keep you guessing and moving away as it continues coming forward.

Maria Renard
.

Before giving him those holy glasses, Maria will tangle with Alucard in another one of those famed "test battles" of which he can't get enough. The battle is different depending upon which version you're playing. For the Saturn version: In the early going, Maria will showcase her flying kicks, with which she can rebound off the walls; normal ground kicks; and three fireballs released in succession. Otherwise, she'll toss at an airborne Alucard three arcing daggers, and she'll push back a crouching Alucard with her roll and tumble. When the going gets tough, she'll use a spell to surround herself with four orbs, which protect her from attacks and damage Alucard on contact according to color (electrocution, stone, black hole, and ice). Maria can at this time continue with her normal attacks, but she'll add in two devastating: She'll pour out in either direction heavy flames, or she'll use a holy attack that sends out damaging beams in all directions. In the Dracula X Chronicles version, she largely abandons the physical game and looks to her animal friends for assistance--she attacks at close range with her more recognizable doves while mainly relying on her cat and dragon helpers (sometimes released in threes), at times in tandem, while less frequently unleashing the shield-based bird and turtle powers. Too, when in trouble, she can enhance the ferocity of the animals' attacks by augmenting their powers with an item-crash.

Maxim
.

Maxim is just another in a long line of heroes who have fallen to Dracula's power of possession. With the added power and aggression of the dark lord, he, like past heroes-turned-villains, becomes a considerable threat. Maxim has several attacks: (1) He can execute the sword storm, a combination of a forward dash and many sword stabs. (2) He can throw his shuriken like a boomerang. (3) From the air, he can quickly dart diagonally downward with a jump kick. (4) He can use ninja magic to create a duplicate of himself; it'll become a two-on-one affair, and both of them will have the same powers, but only the real Maxim can receive damage. And (5) he can use a spell to project countless images of himself forward--all of which can cause damage--for a long period.

.
Max Slimer
.

The Max Slimer, quite simply, is the largest slime formation in Castlevania history--think of the movie The Blob. Its obvious battle plan is to use its size to overwhelm you. The only question is if you can destroy it before it has that chance. The Max Slimer moves by sloshing along the ground, so it's very slow, and it breaks down as you attack it. As it breaks down, its lost matter becomes a smattering of smaller slimes that are just as dangerous as the big one; it's important not to let them pile up. At any time, the Slimer can lob itself upward and latch onto the ceiling, where it becomes a more difficult target; it also becomes a threat to drop on your head. Eventually, your repeated attack will cause it to wither down to nothing.

Mecha Knight
.

Made by Drolta Tzuentes, an attempt at a high-tech boss, the Mecha Knight (aka Armor Battler) attacks with power and speed, but it breaks down as it receives damage, losing vital pieces of its armor. No matter how damaged, its attacks are short-ranged, be it a spear lunge, ax swipe or a kick. Its only real strength is its jumping ability, as it'll try to land on your head. The more damage it receives, the more fierce it becomes as it goes into survival mode. If you give it the chance, it can even dash quickly--an indefensible attack.

Medusa
.

Medusa was once a beautiful maiden. On one fateful day, she was seduced by Poseidon. Her act enraged Poseidon's significant other--Athena, another of the gods of Olympus. Athena punished Medusa by transforming her into a hideous snake woman who would be forced to suffer in that form for all of eternity. However, with that suffering comes a significant power: One look from her eyes can turn any creature, alive or dead, into stone. Because of this, Medusa is more than happy to assist in Dracula's assaults on mankind. To make it worthwhile, Medusa is skilled with both a bow and arrow and a sword.

Menace
.

Menace is a humongous amalgamation of many powerful demons. The battle is a two-part affair: During the first, Menace is hunched over to where Soma is trapped within its skeletal barriers. At this point, Soma must focus his attack on a face implanted into Menace's knee while avoiding giant stabbing blades and the bent-over head's poisonous breath. When the knee-face is damaged enough, Menace will stand upright and begin marching back and forth over the area, attacking with stomps and punches depending upon Soma's position. There are two targets that must now be destroyed: What's left of the knee-face and another implanted within Menace's protective jaws. Though, to make the situation dire, Menace will continuously crowd the battlefield with annoying, resilient flying snap-jaws. (Check the Dawn of Sorrow-specific boss list for larger images.) The Harmony of Despair version is encountered only in its second form, the strategy for defeating it a bit different: You must lure it to the screen's right side and bludgeon its large cranium by activating a gigantic swinging hammer placed above, knocking the Menace on its back; while it lay prone, you can pile on damage by attacking its vulnerable knee joint.

Minotaurusu
.

Yet another Minotaur-like creature, Minotaurusu (also known as simply "Minotaur") attacks with an ax, and it'll put all of its strength into each associated manuever. Its initial attack usually involves a short jab of the ax, but it will randomly execute a jumping swipe in its place. When in close, it will often resort to spitting acid in the face of its foe, inducing upon them a temporary stone status; or, in a more dirty fashion, it will reach to the ground, grab a handful of rocks, and toss them into the air. At any time, it'll gather itself and air-dash forward, wherein it will become lodged in the wall whether it hits or misses the target. After its defeat, it'll will pull off a last-ditch Ryu-like uppercut, a showy move that yields no consequence. In Symphony of the Night, the very same Minotaur serves as a spell-induced Richter's servant alongside Lypuston.

The undead are always among Dracula's favorites. From the pyramids in Egypt, these mummies have been shipped over to Transylvania to visit ol' uncle Drac. Having been embalmed, wrapped in cloth, and entombed for centuries, they awaken whenever called upon by their unholy leader. Mummies, slow and menacing, almost always travel in pairs, and their wrappings are always deadly to touch. Over the course of the series, mummies have always relied on their ability to throw waving shards.

Fast and agile, Grant clings onto walls and ceilings to evade your attacks, and he'll drop axes and daggers onto cornered foes. His jumping ability makes him a little tougher to defeat without a sub-weapon--especially when fighting him on the ground, since he can creep under your whip attacks.
