Soleiyu Belmont

Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge
The possessed Soleiyu is waiting at the end of Stage 6, the chapel, for his father to arrive

On his twenty-first birthday, on the eve of a ceremony whence his father, Christopher Belmont, would hand down to him the Vampire Killer whip and the sub-weapons, Soleiyu Belmont's life took a demonic turn. While it was believed that Dracula will killed by Christopher sixteen years earlier, the Count had pulled the wool over everyone's eyes with a cunning escape plan executed before his perceived defeat.

Though still heavily depleted of his energy, Dracula lay in wait for the longest time. On the night before the ceremony, he used what remained of his dark power to magically possess Soleiyu and coerce him to the side of evil. His intent was to use the Belmont's power, in deference to his own ailing power, to raise Castlevania from the depths, and, eventually, instigate a father-versus-son battle to eliminate both as a threat. While the scheme did not unfold exactly as planned (to use a fallen Christopher's soul as the conduit for the reemergence of his castle), Dracula was able to find an alternate means of raising the castle--he used the souls of his vanquished guardian demons. The possessed Soleiyu took residence in the newly raised Castlevania, ready to eliminate all threats to Dracula's reign.

When Christopher located his son at the height of the castle, he learned the frightening truth, that his confident son was more than ready to fight his own blood relative. Father and son battled atop the castle, the aging Christopher's unextinguished fighting spirit allowing him to beat some sense into Soleiyu and thus remove from his soul the Count's possession. The lineage was thus protected. After the real defeat of Dracula moments later, Soleiyu joined his father in watching the wretched estate sink into the sea, indeed taking his place in line as the next vampire hunter.
