The Death Bat is yet another of those
creatures created by fusing together the genes of a human and a bat--this
has translated into a vicious mutant that's looking to tear you to shreds.
Its attack strategy is to use its bat form to methodically hover overhead
until you're forced you into an inviting position; at that point, it'll gear
up, outstretch its clawed limbs, and, with blinding speed, dart diagonally
down toward you--if you fail to time your attack well, it'll pull this move
off several times in succession. Other times, it'll utilize its human side
by landing nearby and dashing in your direction, trying to overwhelm you before
you can react.

This is a dragon that was killed by
Dracula, himself, in his early years--this to send a message that he, as the
"King of the Dragons," had arrived. Dracula granted it new life
to be a part of his own dark army. As you'd expect, it's huge enough so that
only its front half will be shown on-screen. Its fire-breathing ability is
ever-present, but it chooses to spit individual flame blasts sporadically
as it moves its head up and down between three possible locations, to keep
you guessing while moving. Like other bosses its size, it likes to crash into
things--using its head--to make debris fall from the ceiling to further disrupt
your movements.

The Devil was a notorious lesser enemy
in Circle of the Moon, so it's only natural that the winged hellspawn
would return as a boss in its follow-up. The Devil will remain mostly airborne,
and it'll constantly try to fly directly overhead and come in from difficult
angles so that it can land on top of you. If it's unable to land, it'll eventually
hover in place and fire a laser diagonally downward, slowly moving it from
left to right (or right to left, depending on the direction it's facing).
When it does finally land, it'll do one of two things: (1) Continue its laser
assault--instead firing it straight ahead. Or (2) it'll reach back, generate
flames to engulf its arm, and, with all its might, swing forward to unleash
a fiery assault. Any contact with the Devil will result in a temporary curse.

As one of the premier Dark Lord candidates,
Dmitrii has the uncanny ability to learn and emulate others' abilities. Mainly,
while cleverly ducking and dodging attacks, the amused Dmitrii will somehow
utilize whichever Bullet and Guardian Souls that Soma currently has equipped.
If Dmitrii is struck by a newly equipped soul, he will quickly enter a state
of enchantment and then begin using that power.

Dracula must have a thing for large floating eyes.
This one-eyed cretin is constantly on the move, teleporting and out, as it
executes its three main attacks: (1) It can channel energy streams, from its
eyeball, and fire it in three-way streams--these streams resemble green arrows.
(2) It'll send a multitude of flames looping downward, each rebounding off
of the surface and blazing for long periods; each one can be redirected if
struck by the whip. Or (3) it'll channel rocky debris to surround itself in
a shield of stone as it moves about. Besides these attacks, it'll always try
to use its size to crowd you into corners for repeated hits.

If you can't beat 'em, recreate 'em.
Dracula must have figured that if the Belmont clan was just too powerful--so
he enlisted this apparition, an amoebae-like creature that takes the shape
of any hero it so pleases. By taking their shape, it also gains the usage
of some of their powers. So in order to get to Dracula, you'll have to defeat
the toughest of enemies--yourself! Both Trevor and Alucard have to face these,
including a second, harder version for Alucard.

Defeating two of these undead, moss-collecting
dragons is a task to be had. First mentioned: Both dragons' necks are long
enough for them to move their heads around their bodies' entire circumference.
They'll swing their necks to and fro, all around, at varying speeds to throw
you off; at certain times, one or both will swing their head viciously into
a wall, making debris fall from the chambers' ceiling. The only difference
between the two are their special attacks: The left one can breathe flames
one after another--this while moving semicircularly upward--and the other
can spit out singular exploding energy balls. If you're patient enough, you
can defeat them by striking their heads.

The Dhurons have a big brother in the
person of Dullahan (also known as "Dyruahan"). Yet another knight
decapitated in battle, its head, too, still has working ocular functions,
though detached from its spine. It's a master with the lance, and all of its
attacks revolve around the pointy weapon. These attacks include a long stabbing
thrust and a jumping downward-sword stab. It can also make spikes rise up
from the chamber floor by crashing the lance into the ground. Finally, if
flustered, it'll throw its head into the air, and the head will stalk the
enemy in an attempt to infect you with a temporary curse; also, the head can
elicit a loud scream that'll make debris fall from the ceiling.

Eligor, in vying for the a certain
series honor, is an absurdly large demon that was summoned to protect the
castle. The systematic battle, which requires that a number of hurdles are
cleared before the main target can be approached, commences once the presumptive
hero mounts the seemingly inanimate corpse of Eligor and is soon sent crashing
into the room's right wall; it's from this point where the hero will have
to work his or her way beneath the indeed active Eligor, then to its left
side, and finally onto its back if he or she hopes to get a clear shot at
its vulnerable (and oddly placed) eye. Only after breaking its red crystal
kneecaps, which will eventually regenerate, will it stand on its hind legs,
in great pain, and leave opportunity to run beneath it; this must be done
while it alternates between dealing two sword attacks (a downward stab or
a swipe-and-drag motion, depending upon the hero's position) and hunching
down to fire arrows from an installed crossbow, which can be destroyed. Once
below, the hero will have to safely position his or herself as Eligor treks
to and fro, this to avoid direction contact and its front-leg kick;
it'll soon after execute a jump attack, which leaves the hero time enough
to exit to its left side. From here, another set of crystal kneecaps must
be destroyed as Eligor disrupts the effort with a back kick, a tail-stab,
or arrows as fired from its second, more rapidly crossbow. The kneecaps destroyed,
Eligor will slump to the ground, its tail now easily climbable and the main
target accessible; it will eventually recover and limit the onslaught with
a shoulder-block, a tail whip, or a curled-tail stab, and, when damaged greatly,
a leaning headbutt, any of which can potentially knock the hero back down
to the right side for an unfortunate restart of the cycle.

Here's the niece of Dracula in the
flesh. Her plot to revive her uncle was just another chapter in Dracula's
assaults on mankind. As a boss: Elizabeth makes 4 spheres, each of which contain
an element in their center--fire, ice, dagger, etc.--float around in a circle;
a countdown then begins in the form of the orbs circling inward toward a center
position where they'll intersect. She'll then begin randomly appearing on
one side of the screen, firing flame blasts until you finally strike her.
If you don't get the required number of hits on Bartley, which equals the
number of spheres, before they reach center, you'll fall prey to a powerful
sword, fire or ice attack. If so, Bartley will then reappear center screen
and continue the cycle.

These two pious illusions disappear
and reappear at timed intervals. The faces breathe hatred in the form of blue
spherical projectiles that rebound around the room when the faces disappear;
after the faces temporarily fade out, the blue spheres will continue to bounce
around the room, stalling you from attacking the real target--a sacred tower
pillar that is the faces' essence--until the faces reappear. To defeat them
and move on, you must destroy the pillar completely; the faces themselves
cannot be damaged.

It seems slow at first, but that's
just a ruse to set you up for its mad dashes and long jump attacks. Using
its ax, it'll march toward you to do its dungeon-inhabiting job. It's not
so much that it's hard to defeat--it's that the construction of its chamber
makes it hard to maneuver around. The Executioner often plants himself on
a platform right above you, swinging his axe wildly, leaving no way to escape.
Try not to get cornered and you might have a fighting chance.

These are zombies impersonating Trevor
Belmont, Grant Danasty and Sypha Belnades--Fake Trevor, Fake Grant and Fake
Sypha, as they're known. Due to Alucard's close relationship with the real
Trevor Belmont, this is Shaft's cruel way of playing mind games. Fake Trevor
attacks with the classic Belmont whip while throwing holy water or boomerangs
with varying power and distance. If he's slain, Fake Sypha (if she
hasn't slain), can revive him continuously in a weak zombie form. Fake Grant
mainly climbs on the ceiling and drops daggers from overhead; despite his
agility, he's useless to the team while on the ground because his axe and
short dagger attacks aren't considerable enough, and he only becomes a target.
Fake Sypha constantly hovers, effectively keeping you grounded, while using
all of the spells that the real Sypha could use in her earlier adventure,
including ice, fire and lightning. The trio returns years later to antagonize
Jonathan Morris in much the same way; the only difference is that Trevor can
now use cross and lightning crash attacks.

The Flying Armor is a sinister cape-clad
figure that hovers in the air with its arms crossed; all the while, its two
psychically-controlled swords hover on either side. It can execute with the
swords three separate attacks: (1) It will line up the swords adjacent to
each other and twirl them around while giving chase. (2) It will order the
swords to dart in the hero's direction. Or (3) it will send the swords to
an off-screen position from where they'll dart in from left and right respectively.

Its attack method emulates Gaibon in that it flies
back and forth, spewing streams of fireballs downward. When it lands on the
ground, it simply walks back and forth a short distance--this is the perfect
time to attack it. Even though its attack method is predictable, it can finish
you off with haste, since the stage it appears on is an energy-drainer. This
is merely a sub-boss, though, so the battle should be shorter than expected.
