Product Description

For anyone who's ever entered a casino and said to his or herself, "I'd like to try one of the most confusing, inexplicable games in this joint," multi-line slot machines have surely drawn the attention of their leery peepers. In comparison to normal slot machines, which feature one slot split into three reels and thereby dare the player to make single lines of specific combinations (three bells, three Lucky 7s, three bars of any color, etc.), multi-line slot machines can feature anywhere from three-five slots, two-five reels and as many as twenty-five paylines (which include winning combinations measured straight across, diagonally in either direction, or in sometimes-convoluted wavy patterns). Since there are so many possible combinations and thus a high probability of winning at least the minimum amount per each spin, multi-line slots are typically played for smaller stakes; denominations are usually one-five cents where normal slots range between five cents to a one dollar, with greater amounts of credit spent per spin.

Multi-line slots often feature bonus modes, which are activated when the player scores the game's trademark symbols in large number and in a required pattern. The action then shifts to an upper screen where faced is a special challenge that will net the player varying amounts of credit depending upon his or her luck/performance. For instance: A mutated chicken will run out onto the screen and ask you to select one from five envelopes, each containing a different amount of credits. Castlevania: The Medal is a multi-line bonus slot machine that features three slots, five reels, and nine paylines.

Castlevania: The Medal, as aptly named, is actually a "Medal" game, the likes of which you would find in Japanese arcades. Medal games are unique in that they only simulate gambling, and credits can only be exchanged for medals (non-reedemable emblems most similar to the tickets and tokens found in some arcades), which can then be traded in for prizes. You raise your credit-total by completing lines and matching special symbols (like "Trophies," which when numbering three earns a "Crash Bonus"). More desirable is its special challenge--a video mode where you take control of Richter Belmont and earn large amounts of credit by whipping one of a number of candelabras.
