"Fight, Mega Man, for everlasting peace...."

Mega Man came to life almost 14 years ago as part of Capcom's Captain Commando series. At the time, it appeared that Capcom didn't really know what they had. The consensus with most game-players was that Mega Man, a title very unique to its time-period, was a one-shot deal. Little did anyone know that this nondescript title, with absolutely gaudy box cover art, would become a major hit, spawning over 19 sequels and plenty of spin-offs over the next 14 years.

This page will primarily be devoted to the story of Mega Man, detailing the little blue hero's never-ending fight for peace. As is the case with most multi-sequel game franchises, the story is both confusing and misleading (this tends to happen when the games span over multiple consoles, each title made by different crews). With that said, I will attempt to make sense out of this whole mess. Also, I'll focus heavily on the characters involved, most notably the enemies; after all, without villains, the true measure of a hero would be insignifacant.

Above this selection are 8 links, each filled with all kinds of information about the Mega Man universe, while below rest the stories. So grab your mega-busters and blast your way over to the link of your choice!

This section details the original series, which includes 6 NES titles, 1 SNES title and 1 PSX title. Chronologically, the Game Boy titles don't wind up fitting in between each of the first 6 NES titles though it may seem otherwise.

Mega Man took his war with Dr. Wily over to the Game Boy. Although the robot bosses are not unique to each game--rather, having appeared in the NES games, save for one--the Game Boy titles, five in all, offered a challenge all their own.

No one can be sure if the Mega Man X games are in fact a direct sequel to the regular Mega Man series. Regardless, it looks like Mega Man and plays like it, too. The X series has five titles, 3 of them on the SNES and 2 on the PSX.
