Maria's
Weapons |
Bird
Maria,
as one with nature, certainly loves her animals--especially birds. This
particular bird sub-weapon is stronger than her typical dove attack.
This type allows Maria to release two birds diagonally upward
to take out foes that try to attack from they sky or enemies placed
on platforms above.
Cat
Maria's
little cat friend is cute but deceptively deadly. When Maria releases
the cat from her care, it will use its speed to dash along the ground--across
the screen until out of sight--and stop to snip at
enemies in its path. If it hits a wall or falls into a pit, its efforts will be for naught. |
Dragon
This
large animal friend is released directly above Maria, where it'll
gather itself before soon after arting forward. Its the dragon's sheer size that is its greatest attribute--surely, contact with any minor enemy will surely spell its end. The dragon is most effective when you're frantically hopping from platform to platform while surrounded by enemy characters. |
Egg
This
is hardly a conventional "animal friend." When thrown, it'll
hit a surface and then crack open; immediately after, multiple baby doves will fly out and scatter all around. In effect, it'll appear as if enemies are being overcome by a storm, caught within the chaos and damaged repeatedly. |
Music
Book
Like
her brother-in-law, Richter, Maria utilizes her own magical
book. Using the music book, Maria will actually sing a tune that can harm enemies. Her voice will translate into a musical note that'll travel forward and damage any enemy within its path. |
Turtle
When
released, the turtle will lend its shell to Maria--it fully
becomes of her; when she puts in on, it protects her from enemy attacks. However, her mobility takes a big hit in all facets. This is to say that the turtle friend is for defensive measures only, as it offers no offensive ability. If you don't have the need for speed and like to patiently trek over terrain, this item is for you. |

Sonia's
Soul
Powers |
Soul
Wind
Sonia
wasn't able to use the five items usually associated with
Belmonts (instead re-collecting them for future family use), but these worked just fine in their place. The Soul Wind power is her version of the stopwatch; it will stop in their tracks all of the enemies within her range. |
Soul
Flame
The
Soul Flame, in a sudden flash, will damage every enemy on the
screen, but itsdamaging effect is confined and not very powerful overall--most enemies can easily survive its wrath. Still, it's of value if you use it in conjunction with the whip. |
Soul
Bat
The
Soul Bat is very similar to the Soul Flame; though, it's a lot
more powerful considering its late colle. As you'd expect, therein, the Soul Bat is strong enough to eliminate all of the lesser enemies on the screen without a problem; in essence, it's similar to an item-crashed rebound stone. |
Soul
Saint
Soul
Saint isn't a conventional attack weapon, but it does serve to
make Sonia's whip stronger; that is, it enables her to fire out a big scrolling blast from the tip of the whip each time it's swung. If the whip is powered up to the point where it spews fireballs, the scrolling blast will follow closely behind it for double impact. |
Soul
Ice
Soul
Ice is similar to the laurel found in Akumajo Dracula X68000.
When Soul Ice is used, Sonia can replenish some lost energy. Like the laurel, though, the heart consumption (a whopping twenty) is the greatest of all soul powers in the respective inventory. |

Haunted
Castle
Exclusive |
Bomb
In
Haunted Castle, Simon's second non-Castlevania-titled
game, he
can utilize a rather unique set of sub-weapons. Its most common sub-weapon, the bomb is similar to Holy Water in the way it's unleashed; a bomb is tossed onto the ground, where it explodes quickly, but its engulfing effect itsn't too great. Instead, for best impact, its best to toss one directly onto any enemy. |
Torch
This
fiery sub-weapon can also be thrown onto the ground, where its flame
is spread forward and back over a fair distance. Any enemy
that walks over the spewed flames will become caught in their fiery net and damaged repeatedly until the flames dissipate or until its dead. |
Cross
This
cross item is rather distinct. Each time it's activated, Simon
will release forward multiple crosses over a short range; each cross will strike at least once, and enemies are likely to become trapped between the separated crosses of a thrown set. Therein, the cross is best used for dealing to bosses quick deaths. |
