Magical Items, cont.

Simon's Quest
Exclusive

Silk Bag
This item allows you to carry more medicinal herbs--mainly
laurels. It can only be found by locating a mysterious soul in
Storigoi graveyard by using garlic.

Cross
This can be found be defeating Vampira in Laruba Mansion. It has
no physical effects on Simon himself, but it's essential for entering Castlevania after combining its power with Dracula's ring.

Magic Crystals
Early on, you purchase the white crystal and trade with villagers
for more powerful ones. Depending on where you are, these have
different magical effects, like revealing secret platforms.
Without the red one, you can't enter Castlevania.

Hidden Book
These books can be found all throughout Transylvania, be it in
towns, mansions, woods, etc. They can only be uncovered by
breaking the bricks surrounding them with holy water. Inside
of them is information sometimes vital to completing the game,
since you don't have much else to go on. For the clues, go here.

Dracula's Rib Bone
When found, this item allows you to use a shield to block enemy projectiles. You have to be standing still in order for it to take effect. Collecting this and the four items below is the task at hand in
Simon's Quest
.

Dracula's Heart
Showing this item to the Ferryman will earn his trust, urging him
take you to places you ordinarily couldn't reach--mainly to areas
where other parts of Dracula are being held.

Dracula's Eye
The manual states that this item reflects the curse. When you have
it activated, you can see beyond the normal plane; basically, it shows you where items are hidden without having to break the bricks.

Dracula's Nail
This item, with the assistance of the ring, is required to break two certain bricks that block the bridge that leads into Castlevania. Moreover, if you have it selected, Simon can knock away breakable bricks with his whip instead of having to use holy water.

Dracula's Ring
The manual states that this item represents a symbol of power.
While the nail can be used to break bricks with the whip, two
certain bricks leading into Castlevania cannot be destroyed--that is, until you have this, the symbol that represents the power to
infiltrate the castle.

Special
Additions

Treasures
Most of the items in Castlevania games are hidden in walls. But in
the first Castlevania, Akumajo Dracula X68000 and in some
instances of other games, treasures can be found by standing,
ducking or jumping in certain places, for certain amounts of time. These are the most expensive items that can be found, adding
heavily to the point total.

Spell Book
Finding a magic book hidden in Castlevania: Bloodlines adds
magic power to the whip or spear, turning them into flaming
entities--but it could have a lesser
effect, too, like increasing your heart total, and its power wears off whenever contact is made with
an enemy. Besides its regular power, it also gives you a temporary
but powerful crystal or spear head as a mystic item; that, too, disappears when you are struck.

Coins
These can be found in Castlevania Adventure, taking the place of
what would ordinarily be money bags. All they do is add onto your
point total. They also appear in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
as inexpensive currency.

Life Vial
Life vials can ordinarily be found by defeating bosses in Symphony
of the Night
, but they can located in hidden areas, too--in this game
and
in Circle of the Moon. When collected, Alucard or Nathan's
life maximum will increase and all of their energy will be restored
with it.

Heart Container
The heart containers can also be found in both Symphony and Circle
of the Moon
, but they're only located in hidden rooms--hidden in
some candles, too, in Symphony. When collected, Alucard or
Nathan's heart total will increase to a variable amount, depending
on their level.

Magic Vial
This item is exclusive to Circle of the Moon, and Nathan can only
find them in hidden areas, some more prominent than others. When collected, Nathan's MP total is increased to a variable amount,
allowing him to use less magic for certain actions.
