You are going to regret it when the colors start to fade.
And the awesome thing is that you don't notice it until it's too late.
Since you look at it everyday, you get used to each small fade and your brain makes up for the missing colors. Until one day you're gonna compare them to something else and notice how washed out it looks.

Yes, I know it will end up like that propably. And I really should do something against it, but if I wasnt so lazy... At least the only ting I do, is keeping the blinds always halfway shut.

I'm telling you because it happened to me and a bunch of BOXED SNES games (Final Fantasy 3, Mario RPG, Castlevania 4, etc).

So was there artifial Light such as from lamps shining on the Games contantly? Or only the Daylight?

Mine never got any direct sunlight and they faded.
Light, heating and humidity will do the trick over the years.

Standard lightbulbs will indeed fade the colors since they emmit UV rays (or something).

Fluorescent lights shouldn't give you any problems, but you never know.

Hmm... Now I'm really starting to worry about this thing. Damn Light!

@Castlevania:

The E3 demo went for 3750US$. Wicked. Plain wicked and ugly. Hope we can have the ISO or something. But we'll probably never hear about it anymore. People who can give 4000$ for a disc won't share anything with the fans. Ok that was my populist burst of the day. Fight the power lol.

Confused

Anyway, may I grab the occasion for a small question? What do you guys know about the vinyl soundtrack by Konamix? It's bugging my mind and my sleeptime too.

And congrats to you, retro, your collection kicks deh bottom, especially the LoD pewter's sword. I couldn't afford it back then, what a shame.

Sad

Greets Lux,

Nice to see your face around these humble boards. By the vinyl do you mean the Dracula X remixes vinyl album?

As far as I know this is the only vinyl album for CV released.. somebody needs to setup a turntable and check against the CD version =)

I've always harbored a suspicion that there may have been an older vinyl release in the 80s, of classic Akdra music but I have no proof.

Yes, I mean the Dracula X vinyl.

I hope somebody knows more about it here, because basically, no website in the world has a clear picture of the vinyl (only that Yahoo! Japan auction) and there is also a cover to it, with some Konami copyright or something. It is weird how no Castlevania site has information about it... really weird.

Was it available for sale to the public? I think not.

Has it been released in very low quantity? Surely.

Are there other vinyls from Konami? I suppose not, but you might hit the jackpot by saying yes.

Welcome here Luxkiller, seen you on eBay bidding-lists quite often Laughing Embarassed

Good to see other collectors on the web to talk with Smile

Thank you dude, your collection is pretty nice as well. Your pc castlevania box looks so mint. My one has some stupid deformations. But you know, you have been bidding there too.
So you have been bidding on that sword thing as well? Very Happy
Well actually I don't have any idea of if it is official. But I don't think so. Maybe protogem knows.

@E3 demo: lol

@Soundtracks: Even though I LOVE the Castlevania Musik, I dont have a single soundtrack so far Embarassed I will collect them after the games are finished. There is still loads of stuff missing in my collection Sad A vampire Killer for MD is on the way though, but I need to take break, because all the stuff is so bloody expensive Mad

Thanks man!

So you don't know a thing about that vinyl? It's obsessing me, I need to know more about it, even know I have it now.

Well, didn't you check the sword for any copyright or something? It does seem strange, but I assure you it can be official, as I have seen official things on eBay only once in my life, thinking they weren't so rare, so I did not bid. Now I'm peeing blood when I think I could have bought that for cheap. Collecting sucks.

Anyway, yeah, I have two US Castlevania for IBM, one is mint, one has some creases on the box, but still nice.

Soundtracks, if you want the sealed, are becoming impossible to find, especially older releaes. You might not have noticed, I try collecting only sealed stuff whenever possible. Obviously, some pieces are so rare I don't mind if it's used/not sealed.

For example, the sealed Dracula X double CD soundtrack I have is now impossible to find in new condition. Or the sealed New Gen I have too. I focuse on sealed items, but money is expensive and eBay becomes crazy, with people spending thousands of $ on items. I mean, 4000$ for an E3 demo, WTF? The Bloodlines prototype that Proto knows about went for SO MUCH CHEAPER, and is much more intriguing. Anyway.

talk to you soon, do you have some MSN address?

No, I don't have any idea of the vinyl ost. There's just this 5000yen vinyl around on yahoo all the time.

I have checked the sword, and there's no copyright on it.

I didn't knew you are a sealed collector. I recently started to collect sealed stuff too and I know how fuckin expensive and rare the sealed stuff can get. A friend of mine is a passionate sealed collector, he influenced me a bit. He bought the factory sealed pal SotN for 370 some month ago. (i held it in my hands already Razz lol) It was the first one showing up in years! I think when a sealed uk-pal SotN appears, the prices will top the $1000.

yes i have msn, i'll sent you a pm with it. maybe protogem has msn too?

Ah, beautiful. First one Ive seen with the sleeve in a long time..

I wonder if the thing was just a promo deal of some sort back in the day, as even then nobody used LPs. Maybe it has to do with the whole "remix/DJ" aspect of the album itself (turn tables, etc). Who knows.. crappy album, but awesome rare item.

In my opinion, it wasn't available for sale to the public. I'm saying this because I have more than one of the same and still, only one has the famous sticker on the slipcase (the other ones are plain black). Why would you sell copies with the tag and some without? Unless you could only buy those in lots if you had the permission to (DJs, clubs, discotheques...), obviously.

I also have a strange LP from DJ Feilong, which doesn't seem connected to Castlevania, but I need to check and look for more information about it.

Do you have another theory about why only one sleeve has the sticker and not all of them?

Won an interesting item on Yahoo Japan:

http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e67470954

It went for pretty cheap, it looks like a cassette version of one of Konami's Arcade game music compilations (I could have sword I saw a CD version of this somewhere) including Akumajo Dracula/Haunted Castle.

Yeah I was watching this too. But in the end it was uninteresting for me.

Hey, this chaosjapan_ltd account is outbidding me there constantly Mad

It's one of those services right?

I know JPCVFAN uses this too. This account outbid me on that Musikbook a while ago, and some days later JPCVFAN contributed pics of the thing to the site here.

Ah yeah, I saw that one but didnt trust it. Might be legit, the auction admitted it was a CDR.

As for the music book, that was me. JPCVFAN is apparently a Japanese fan, so wouldnt need a service like Chaosjapan.

Sorry =)

I'll be bidding a bit less, contributing more money into the 401k now anyway =P

It has to be a fake, because "PSX" has never been the right acronym for the PlayStation. PSX is actually, as you both know, some kind of special PS2.

Plus, the gut was selling another so-to-speak review disc of REZ, and the font used for "REVIEW" is exactly the same. Anyway!

Its odd that Boku Dracula Kun (GB) wasnt on YJ for so long, and then 2 pop up within a couple days of one another, complete.

Kinda splurged on that one, but I've wanted it for a while.

I have never seen them, except the 2 on yahoo now. I won the first one, but the seller turned out to be some racist asshole. So another guy got it -_-

Anyway here's my recent new stuff:

(not on the pic: green famicom boku dracula kun bootleg cartridge)

Was looking for a nice Vampire Killer quite a while now.

Yeah, that postcard is really sexy! What's on the back of it by the way?

My hunt for sealed crap continues.

This thing never sells for less than 200$ (the last ones sold on eBay were at 300$ and 250$). Wicked.

Sweet, a sealed US SOTN Original! The only thing better would be a sealed Limited Edition PAL SOTN, but thats probably much harder to find these days.

Question on plastic containers.

I keep all of my Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance game cartridges in a small/transparent/plastic container, plastic lid. I live in California and things get hot sometimes, however it is in the back of a bookshelf and it's rather cool there in the corner.

Is there anything I should worry about?

Yes, nice one. The regular Pal (not the UK LE) is at least AS rare as the LE. Almost impossible to find (and to pay).

So only the cartridges? Then I think you should not worry. As long as there is no condensation water forming in the Box.

Hi guys

I don't have to present myself, as many of you already know me.

Wink

But I will say (for those who don't know who I am) I am a French Castlevania fan since the early 90's, beginning with The Castlevania Adventure on GB which was incredible and gave me the Castlevania virus.

I used to not sell my games (with some exceptions) so I do possess now a big collection of various things : video games, manga (I am found of Japanese culture), video games magazines, metal music CD, DVD, Bier glasses,...oh I guess that bothers you Confused Confused )

I am not only a fan, but a collector, for many sagas, such as Megaman, Makaimura, Shining Force, Contra, TMHT, Batman, and many others.

But my biggest collection (huge now) is certainly my Castlevania collection. Idea

Many of you already seen photos I took some months ago, at the beginning of 2007.

We're now almost in August, and I didn't took pictures but it has change a little. When I will have time (during my holidays perhaps) I will try to take new shoots.

For those who are interested by that of course... Smile Smile Smile Wink

I don't have really favourite games concerning this series, but in general I don't like the games after Circle of the Moon, for some reasons, they're way too easy, and propose no challenge. I am the greatest enemy of Koji Igarashi, that pitiful producer, who is killing in my view the Castlevania Myth. I do prefer ancient games, far more interesting ! Wink

I will explain why later, I think my message is already too long !
Sorry but I used to write long messages instead of short insignificant ones

And sorry too for my english, which is not as good as it should be, and I never try translator because I hate that sorry, hoping you still manage to understand what I mean Surprised Surprised

Long live to Castlevania
