Well, I just got my PS3 from the MGS4 bundle. I had $500 of gift certificate money for Amazon ($250 of it was my brothers who pitched in also). BTW, don't shop there. When the budle came out to buy/pre-order it, they labeled the price as $800. "WTF?!" I screamed. I searched around for a bit and called a few stores about it. The stores said they will sell it for the actuall retail price. Amazon got some sense into themselves (but were still dicks about it) and dropped the price to $650 from a seller........... (not Amazon).

I'm still mad about the price, although my mom was nice enough to fill in the extra $150+tax+shipping and handling. I bought GTA IV (just the game, not that huge bundle that Birdo posted with the duffle bag, lock box, etc.) about a month before I even got the PS3.

Anyways, apparently, the delivery took about a week to get to me (dunno why). So, right now, I got the 80 Gig, MGS4, and GTA IV. I plan on getting Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, (borrow) Call of Duty 4, (borrow) Warhawks, Assassin's Creed, (soon) Street Fighter IV, and (possibly) DBZ: Burst Limit.

I'm just wondering if I'm missing out on other things. I already got Gutair Hero III for the Wii and I'm willing to wait till fall (or w/e it comes out) for GH IV. Perhaps, my first BluRay DVD? 10,000 B.C.? Talldega Nights? Cloverfield?

P.S. Since we got the PS3, my mom went wild about it. We have an HDTV already with 1080i (or 1080p, I forgot). She started to shop like nuts for it. Were getting a cooling....thing that attaches to keep the PS3........ well, cooler! We are soon getting a HDMI cable that allows my HDTV to play my PS3 games/movies at 1080i/p. I also believe she is also buying another DuelShock 3 controller, too. Oh, AND, she is doubling our internet speed so that we won't lag when we go online.

Will you people *PLEASE* stay consistent with your title?

I was expecting a poll question like "Do you have one?" with a choice of Yes or No

I want to have a PS3, but I'm torn between getting that and an Asus EEE PC 1000 Sad

I have owned and sold both the Xbox 360 and a Gunmetal PS3.

Lucky you Cobrothers. Why, back in my days.... I was barely able to convince my parents to spend $100 on me to get an NES. Crying or Very sad

Heh I have to wait for my birthday or christmas before I can convince my parents to buy me a new console. I'm either going to get an Xbox 360 or PSP...with my heart leaning towards an Xbox 360.

Don't own any of the new fangled systems, but I did get a free Saturn from a friend of mine awhile back, and then proceeded to buy an Action Replay 4MB Cart for my import needs. Smile

Actually, I think it's due to the fact that I might get my diploma now. For those who don't know, I'm 21 and I still don't have my diploma. I just did my test that will gain me one. AND, my brother also got his this year, too. So that might be the other reason. I got myself back into school and got myself straight. But, I did pay for the PS3 (with the help of my brother) and GTA IV, as I mentioned above.

I do remember a time where the only way I can recieve a console/game would be through birthdays and/or achievments. Aaaahhh, the good ol' days...

I'm actually about to return my PS3. It started to have a problem reading discs last night and hasn't stopped.

I'm a little pissed and I'm not too sure if I'm going to buy another one. I'll probably just wait until September/October. At least I got to play through MGS4 without any problems.

Oh my gosh... I loved those days! And I hated them at the same time. As a kid, it was my dream to be able to get any game I wanted. Now I can, but... you can't walk into a Toys 'R' Us and buy a brand new SNES game any more. Crying or Very sad

^ 26?? I'm sorry... Sad

But yes, when you only got about two games a year mistakes can not be made. There was a couple of guidelines for my purchases though: if it's by Nintendo, it's good. If it has the Rare emblem on the box, it's gonne be really good.

Sadly, the new systems are still too rich for my blood, and all the bugs scare me away from really trying to acquire one as well.....

People say Viva Pinata was good, but haven't played it, I'm heterosexual.

OHHHH BUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNN!!!

But really I just can't imagine walking into to my local game store and buying that, I mean The Sims is one thing but Viva Pinata...

Before the thread completely derails; I think I might try to get a PS3 after selling my PSP with its games and good sized memory stick then save up some dough.

Do what I do and wait to get them second hand. Come to think of it the only system I ever brought brand new was my Gamecube everything else, with one or two exceptions which were birthday gifts were all brought second hand

The older I get, the more I look to save shrapnel. Nothing wrong with second hand. I take meticulous care of my games and systems. They look like new. There are other people like me, and that's what I buy more often.

Bottom line, gotta save!

i have an idea about what they were thinking.

sony meeting:

#1: GODDAMNIT! YOU ASSHOLES LIED TO ME! YOU SAID TO THE PEOPLE, THEW MEDIA, TO EVERYONE THAT PRICE WOULD NOT MATTER!
#2: sir, please ca-
#1: I WILL NOT CALM DOWN! WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO!?
#3: focus on making/launching/acquiring some really good games that will make the gaming morons willing to pay even $1000 for a PS3
#1: ... you're fired! that requires to much creativity!
the new #3: well... how about we cut the price to something more reasonable?
#2: but then we lose profit! we might need to take something out of the ps3 that no one would care about.
#1: NO. FUCK THAT. THEY WON'T BUY IT WHEN I TELL THEM TO THEN THEY SHALL PAY.
#2: if we take out the ps2 component that allows it to play ps2 games, we can save ourselves about an additional 75 bucks and we can lower the price substantially.
#1: ...PPPPPPPPRRRRROOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFIIIITTT?!
#2: if we take the ps2 out of the ps3 then they'll use their older ps2s. eventually those will break down and then they will go out and buy a new ps2 slim, thereby making up the profit differential.
#1: so we get to screw everyone over and still, in general, charge as much as we did before? #2, go find the old #3 and kill him. there can be only one.

You know, aside fro being the best laugh I've had all day, you could apply that to almost any industry and it would still be true.

ha ha! i made you laugh!? i was worried it wasn't too funny. like i tried to hard.

yeah, it seems like most industries do. it makes me annoyed. i wouldn't mind so much if the government didn't do that too. wouldn't it make more sense to give bailouts to the people in checks THAT WERE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO PAY OFF LIKE 30% OF A CITIZEN'S DEBT, MORTAGE, ETC? this way the bank would get some money and indebted citizens would be able to pay off at least some of their debt. i doubt that all of the citizen's debt would be more than $700 billion. instead they give it to business who buy brand new jets for their businesses. FUCK. obama better fix this shit. it's on his watch!

While I never seem to have much time for games anymore, I do have a PS3 (in addition to my too-frequently-upgraded PC), and I love the hell out of it. Multiconsole games are finally equal on 360/PS3, the PS3's exclusive titles are great and now actually more numbered than 360 exclusives (Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles, Motorstorm 2, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, etc etc), and the PSN downloadable games are great, in my opinion the one area in which the PS3 has a clear advantage over the 360.

I still would like a 360 as well, seeing how most of my friends have one and I'd love to play mutliplayer stuff with them, but a) I don't have much time for games, b) I don't have money, and c) I'm not buying one until their RROD fix is an actual, you know, fix, and not just an extended warranty.

Times change my friend. Consoles break less frequently. But... Funny, all of the PlayStations I have - never broke. Then I gave in and bought PSP-3000. 3 months later broke on me. First fail ever!

As to my 360, hadn't had an issue. No RROD so far. Got the Halo 3 edition.

An true, true, it's harder to find time to play. Luckily for me, my wife loves Wii Sports. Nothing else, but at least she's playing.
